Protect continuity of access
- Use a personal email address you expect to retain after separation or retirement when the system permits it.
- Keep recovery methods current.
- Use multifactor authentication and protect backup/recovery codes.
- Do not assume an old DS Logon or service email will remain the correct credential indefinitely; follow current portal instructions.
- Before separation, export important records and record every account recovery path.
TRICARE expressly notes that different secure platforms support different parts of the benefit. VA likewise now uses ID.me or Login.gov for online access. Treat the login as the doorway—not as proof that the system behind it controls every issue you see there.
