Terms of Use
Effective date: October 12, 2026.
These terms describe the conditions for using MilitaryClaims.us, an independent public-interest educational and research resource. They apply to the content and features of this website. They do not replace terms that apply when you use a government portal, WordPress.com account, or another external service.
Educational purpose and independence
MilitaryClaims.us helps readers understand military service, records, programs, benefits, claims, procedures, sources, and history. It is not a government agency and is not endorsed by the Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, a military department, or another government office.
The material is general information, not individualized legal, medical, financial, tax, or other professional advice. Reading the site or contacting it does not establish an attorney-client or other professional relationship. Any professional engagement requires a separate express agreement with the appropriate professional.
Use official instructions for decisions and filings
Rules, forms, eligibility criteria, filing channels, and deadlines can change and can depend on branch, component, status, jurisdiction, facts, and the date of the issue. Consult the current official source and qualified assistance when needed. Do not treat a site summary, sample, worksheet, or historical account as proof of eligibility or as a completed filing.
MilitaryClaims.us does not file a claim, appeal, correction request, benefit application, or records request on your behalf merely because you use the site or send a message. Do not wait for a response from this site before addressing an official deadline.
Accuracy, sources, and historical evidence
We aim to cite sources, identify uncertainty, and correct errors. We do not promise that every page is complete, current, or applicable to your circumstances. Sources can conflict, move, or become unavailable. Distinguish original records from summaries, OCR, transcripts, annotations, and other derivatives.
A unit history is not automatically proof of an individual’s participation. A rank does not alone prove a particular duty assignment or qualification. Illustrative or AI-generated images are not archival photographs and do not establish an actual person’s identity, service, race, rank, unit, or achievements.
Permitted use and responsible conduct
You may read, link to, and use the site for lawful education, personal research, and other uses allowed by applicable law. Do not impersonate a person or government agency, submit material you are not entitled to disclose, distribute malicious code, interfere with the site or other users, or attempt unauthorized access. Do not use site content or illustrative images to fabricate an official record or misrepresent someone’s service.
Copyright, citations, and outside materials
The presence of a document, photograph, logo, or quotation on this site does not mean it is owned by MilitaryClaims.us, in the public domain, or licensed for every reuse. Follow the rights statement or license attached to the particular item. Government websites can include third-party material; a government source alone does not resolve reuse rights.
Uses authorized by law, including fair use where applicable, remain available. For permission beyond applicable law or a stated license, contact the relevant rights holder. When quoting or referencing our educational material, identify MilitaryClaims.us, the page, and the date consulted. Do not suggest that a reuse is endorsed by us.
Messages, contributions, and privacy
You remain responsible for material you submit and for obtaining any necessary consent or rights. Do not send private records belonging to another person without authority. Ordinary email is not a confidential or emergency channel. A submission does not create representation, guarantee a response, or automatically authorize publication.
Any proposed public contribution requires a separate discussion of permissions and scope. Information handling is described in the Privacy Notice. Public comments, where offered, may be moderated or removed to protect the site’s purpose and users. Third-party platform terms also apply to features supplied by that platform.
External links and platform services
Links are provided to help readers locate sources and services. We do not control external sites, their availability, accuracy, security, privacy practices, or decisions. A link is not an endorsement. Check the destination and its own instructions before submitting information or relying on a service.
Availability and limits
The site and its content are provided as available. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we make no warranty that they are error-free, uninterrupted, suitable for a particular purpose, or guaranteed to produce a result. To the extent permitted by law, MilitaryClaims.us is not responsible for losses caused by reliance on general website information, service interruption, or external services. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or limits a right that applicable law does not permit to be excluded or limited.
Updates, corrections, and contact
We may revise content, features, and these terms. The effective date identifies the current version; changes apply prospectively to the extent permitted by law. For a correction, accessibility concern, rights issue, or question about these terms, contact director@militaryclaims.us. Include the page URL and the specific issue.
